Various diseases control experts and epidemiologists have been suggesting for a month now that COVID-19 would be hard to contain and is going to be an issue. Now that the WHO has raised the COVID-19 outbreak to a Global Health Emergency, many countries are putting the proper focus on their healthcare system. Hopefully, it is not too late and their efforts are in time.
The question now is:
Are hospitals ready for the impact COVID-19 is going to have on healthcare?
There is a lot of worries that hospitals are not readily prepared for a global outbreak. Many emergency doctors, like James P Philips, agree that the outbreak has reached the level of a pandemic. While this may be true, he also states that it may ease the publics’ mind to know that they have been preparing for weeks.
Although hospitals around the world have been preparing and taking the necessary precautions for COVID-19, there is still a lot of work to do. It is important now, that the public takes action to help prevent spreading. A lot of this has to do with educating yourself and practicing good hygiene.
