Electronics get used on a daily basis. The fact that you are reading these words right now means you are using an electronic device. How often do you take the time to disinfect and clean your electronics?

We compiled a list of seven electronics that have enormous amounts of bacteria on them that can be potentially harmful to you!

1. Electronic Badges:

These handy little devices that give us access into places others can not go have 4,620,000 CFU  on them, which is 26,860 times more bacteria than a toilet seat.

2. Keyboard

Keyboards have 3,543,000 CFU which is 20,598 times more bacteria than a toilet seat. Might be time to take all of the keys off yours and give it a good cleaning.

3. Cell Phone

We've touched on it before (no pun intended), but ask yourself, how many times do you handle your phone daily? Your cellphone can be about 31,374 times more bacteria infested than a toilet.

4. Mouse

The more ergonomically friendly, the more bacteria. some mice have up to 1,370,068 CFU which is 45,670 time more bacteria than a toilet's handle.

5. Laptop Trackpad

Surprisingly enough, your laptop's trackpad has far less bacteria on it than a regular mouse. It can have 810 CFU which is 162 times more bacteria than money, another daily item that is considered to be one of the most filthy items.

6. Game Controllers

Enjoy kicking back after a long day to play some video games? Give your controller a wipe down, as it can have 5 times more bacteria per square inch than a toilet

7. Earbud Headphones

If you have ever looked at another person's earbuds you understand. Study was done in which 22 pairs of earbuds were swabbed and the results? Although there was a ton of bacteria, not a whole lot of it was harmful. Only 2 out of the 22 tested contained a yeast bacteria, which can be harmful to humans. So don't be fooled, the risk is still there, but earbuds are actually not as bad as they seem!

So there you have it. Seven Electronics. Seven places for bacteria to live. And remember that bacteria can show up in a lot of other places, so make sure that you stay up to date by subscribing to our email list!
