DIY Simple Pet Cleaning Wipes for Dogs, Cats, and More!
- On July 8, 2021
Our pets are a beloved part of our family, which is why we want to give them the best care possible. When your pet’s coat or paws get dirty, a quick cleanup with a pet-friendly wet wipe is a quick and easy solution. However, you may not realize that many store-bought pet wipes contain various alcohols which can dry out your pets skin. Some can contain fragrance or chemicals which can irritate your pets skin as well.
When it comes to our animals, we want to be assured that all ingredients being used on them are completely safe as they can ingest some of whatever product is being used.
To put all your worries at ease, we have created a recipe for simple DIY pet wipes. This recipe will remove dirt, disinfect, and moisturize all at the same time while using completely safe and natural ingredients.
In this recipe, the dish soap works to remove dirt and will even repel dirt and grease due to its surfactant abilities. We recommend using Dawn dish soap but you can also use any pet-friendly soap or shampoo. The coconut oil helps to soothe and moisturize your pet. Coconut oil is natural and good for pets both inside and out. Lastly, hydrogen peroxide is natural and safe. It has many beneficial properties such as anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and oxidizer.
- 3 cups distilled water
- 1 tbsp dish soap (We recommend Dawn or another quality mild dish/pet soap)
- 2 tbsp coconut oil
- 2 tbsp hydrogen peroxide (3%)
- 1 Canister of Roxton DIY Wipes
- In a separate container, combine distilled water, soap, coconut oil, and hydrogen peroxide together
- Pour your homemade solution into the Roxton DIY Dry Wipes container and install lid tightly
- Let soak for at least 10 minutes to allow wipes to become fully saturated
- Use pet wipes as necessary on paws and skin, being careful to avoid their eyes!
Make sure your container is sealed tight after every use to ensure the wipes stay damp and fully saturated with the solution. If you wipes do happen to dry out, simply mix up another batch and pour into the container.
When making your own DIY wipes and especially if you are making multiple recipes, you should always remember to label your containers to know what ingredients are inside. Roxton’s DIY Dry Wipes are available for purchase of one 160 count container or a bundle of four 160 count containers.
Disclaimer: this recipe is our suggestion, however, we are not trained veterinarians. Please consult with your vet if your pet has any sensitivities or is being treated with any topical medication!
