Unfortunately, according to the CDC, much is still unknown exactly how the new Coronavirus spreads. Currently, actions moving forward are based upon what scientists know about other similar Coronaviruses (SARS or MERS) which are the rare forms that originate in animals and can infect people.
It is thought that those with compromised immune systems, respiratory issues, and other underling health issues are most at risk. The biggest risk factor, is travel to China. Those that have come in contact with a person who may have a a case of the virus are also at risk. Those without these risks have a very low chance of catching this virus.
In the current known Coronaviruses, spreading happens when you come in close contact with infected individuals. Individuals are most contagions and can spread the virus when they reach the point of being noticeably sick. It spreads mainly through droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes, similar to the spread of other Flu viruses.
Scientists around the world are working diligently to learn more about this virus and information changes hourly. Roxton will continue to sift through information and bring you facts based on findings from the WHO and the CDC.
